Al-Nabigha al-Ja'di

Abu Layla Al-Nabigha al-Ja'di (Qays ibn Abd Allah) was a distinguished Mukhadram poet and a companion of the Prophet Muhammad. Born in Al-Aflaj, Najd, he was renowned as one of the "Mu'ammarun" (long-lived), reportedly living over 120 years. He earned the title "Al-Nabigha" (the Genius) for beginning his poetic career later in life. Even during the Pre-Islamic period, he was known for his monotheistic inclinations and avoidance of wine. He embraced Islam in 630 CE (9 AH) and received a special blessing from the Prophet for his eloquence. Al-Ja'di participated in the early Islamic conquests and fought alongside Ali ibn Abi Talib at the Battle of Siffin. His poetry is celebrated for its wisdom, Islamic ethics, and masterful descriptions of horses. He passed away in Isfahan during the Umayyad era, leaving a significant literary legacy.
