Abd Allah ibn al-Ziba'ra

Abd Allah ibn al-Ziba'ra al-Sahmi was a prominent Qurayshi poet and a fierce opponent of early Islam. Known as the leading poet of Mecca during the Jahiliyya, he used his eloquent and satirical verses to lampoon Prophet Muhammad and incite the Quraysh against Muslims, even participating in the Battle of Uhud. Following the Conquest of Mecca in 630 CE (8 AH), he initially fled to Najran but later returned to Mecca to embrace Islam and offer a poetic apology to the Prophet. The Prophet accepted his conversion and honored him with a cloak. As a "Mukhadram" poet, his later works were dedicated to praising the Prophet and defending the faith. He passed away during the caliphate of Umar ibn al-Khattab, around 636 CE (15 AH).
